A good TV wall-mounting result starts before any drilling. The viewing position, television model, bracket, wall construction and cable plan all affect the final setup. Sharing these details in advance makes the request easier to assess and helps identify questions that should be resolved before installation.
Start with the viewing position, not a universal height
There is no single mounting height that suits every room. Sofa height, viewing distance, screen size, room layout and personal comfort all matter.
Sit in the usual viewing position and look naturally toward the proposed wall. The screen should feel comfortable to view without repeatedly lifting or lowering your head. Also consider nearby furniture, a soundbar, windows, lighting and air-conditioning vents.
Before booking, share a wide photo of the room and the approximate position you have in mind. If the exact height is uncertain, ask for the final position to be agreed before drilling begins.
Confirm that the TV and bracket are compatible
Keep the television model number and product manual available. Useful details include:
- Screen size and weight without the stand
- The mounting-hole pattern listed by the manufacturer
- The bracket model and supported size and weight range
- Whether the bracket is fixed, tilting or full-motion
- Any manufacturer-supplied screws, spacers and instructions
A full-motion bracket places different forces on a wall than a fixed bracket, particularly when the arm is extended. Compatibility should not be assumed from screen size alone.
Do not mix unknown screws or fittings with the supplied hardware. Incorrect screw length can damage the television, while an unsuitable bracket or fixing method can create a safety risk.
Identify the wall type and condition
The visible wall surface may not reveal the complete structure behind it. A wall may be concrete, blockwork, drywall, cladding or a combination of materials. Its condition, concealed services and available fixing points also need consideration.
Include clear photos of the proposed area and mention anything known about the wall. Do not drill when the wall construction or location of electrical wiring, plumbing or other concealed services is uncertain.
Tenants and apartment residents should also check whether landlord or building-management approval is required. Some Dubai buildings have rules for drilling times, contractor access, service lifts and work permits.
Plan cables and connected devices
Decide which equipment will connect to the television before choosing the final position. This may include:
- Power and antenna connections
- Streaming devices or TV boxes
- Game consoles
- Soundbars or speakers
- HDMI, network and other signal cables
Check whether the existing cables can comfortably reach their devices without being stretched. Surface trunking may be a simpler option in some rooms, while concealed cable routing is a separate scope that depends on the wall and building rules.
Do not improvise concealed mains-power routing or use a cable arrangement that conflicts with electrical, building or manufacturer requirements. Any new or relocated electrical outlet should be reviewed as appropriate electrical work.
Prepare for the appointment
A clear request should include:
- TV brand, model and screen size
- Bracket model, product link or photos
- Wide and close-up photos of the wall
- Preferred viewing position
- List of connected devices
- Cable-routing preference
- Dubai area and building-access instructions
- Any known wall condition or concealed utility
Keep the TV, bracket, instructions and supplied hardware available. The requested appointment date remains a preference until the visit is confirmed.
If some details are unknown
It is fine to state that the wall type or bracket compatibility is unknown. Those points should be assessed rather than guessed. Mounting should proceed only when the proposed position, wall, bracket, fittings and scope are considered suitable.
